2019-Top 10 looting schemes

Source: Various
With year 2019 drawing to an end, I guess the following schemes occupy the top 10 positions:
1) Road construction
Be it a National or State Highway, road building continues to be an excellent looting scheme.
Even a couple of day’s rain is enough to expose the quality of the construction.
Appears that it’s a government policy to lay poor roads and keep looting the tax payers’ money year on year thru maintenance, etc.

2) Desilting Rivers, lakes and ponds
Another brilliant looting scheme.
This work is generally taken up close to the Monsoon period to show as if the Government is taking precautionary steps to prevent flooding. But the real intention is to ensure flooding, so that the relief amount can be looted.

3) Tree Plantation
This is a real jackpot scheme.
In the guise of celebrating the party founder’s birthday or some nonsense, the ruling party would come out with a fancy number of trees for planting using taxpayer’s money.
Apart from an ounce of water on the show-day, the saplings would be left to die without water. The advantage in this scheme, the fancy numbers can grow year after year even though trees were really grown or not.

4) Social welfare schemes
This scheme is used as a trump card ie as a game changer in elections. The freebies may range from one item to multiple items... .
No accountability and no need to worry about the dent such schemes would cause in a Government Exchequer.

5) Constituency Development
This is more like an annual bonus. An MLA/MP is provided with funds to develop his/her Constituency (personal wealth?). Here the growth can be unimaginable..............

6) Toll collections
This is an indirect looting scheme. Allow the third party to keep hiking the toll charges and pocket the commission..............

7) National Rural Employment Scheme.
Beauty of this scheme is the loot is distributed. Being a pure cash-transfer scheme, the Panchayat officers and politicians may get drenched in ‘muster roll mamool’

8) Public Sector Company
Government officials and politicians see it as a ‘Public Nectar Company’. Money in the form of sweet liquid projects. Whoever comes to Power can soak in this nectar fountain.

9) Education
The Golden doors for Private schools and colleges were widely opened in the 20th century to compete and complete Government education Institutions.
Since majority of the Private schools and colleges are owned by Politicians, bootleggers and other notorious people, Education seems to be the best business in our country. Here the looting is more organised and legal.

10) Smart City Mission
Aim of the Mission is to efficiently utilise available resources, assets and infrastructure in order to enhance quality of urban life and provide a clean and sustainable environment.
In paper, the mission looks fantastic but in reality its one other messy scheme fraught with corruption. This scheme started with a total budget of Rs 2.05 lakh crores (to convert 100 ordinary cities into Smart cities) and as is normal, already project overrun to the extent of 3 + years has been witnessed.
No problem, loot money can go up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note: For a moment, if the above schemes were devoid of the magic word ‘LOOT’, our Country would have been the richest and best place on Earth to live.

UNLESS THESE 10 POINTS ALONG WITH SOME MORE IS BANGED INTO THE MINDS OF PEOPLE WE CAN'T EXPECT MUCH . HOPE ALL THE VIGILENCE DEPARTMENTS TAKE NOTE AND GO DEEP INTO IT . Scrutiny of State A/cs , Central Funds to be Notified by CAG more
This is not for the first time. Since independence all developmental and social welfare schemes had been the sources of looting the public money by the people in power and their chamchas. more
All the mentioned schemes are for the welfare of the society and not for looting. Corrupt people find an opportunity to loot in almost every scheme. We should think in the positive way; i.e; how to prevent corruption and severely punish the corrupts. There is no sense in calling the schemes corrupt or asking to close them. more
HOW??????????? more
All the said schemes were conceived with a positive mind for the welfare of the society. If they have not come to the expectations of Mr Subramanian Ashok it was purely due to corruption in our society. If Mr Subramanian Ashok has some better ideas, he should come out or expose the corruption . more
OMG! All the listed 10 points point to the party in power. Clean Ganga, Road development, Desilting...and the Neta against whom even SC passed stricture have then taken Sanyaas after the loot while the Government is going behind all businessmen and builders. Latest in net is Maruti Suzuki ex-MD: Khattar. more
