Action - Making Railways more Accessible for Senior Citizens/Spl Needs People

Feedback was received from this circle earlier this year on Making Railways more accessible for Senior Citizens and Citizens with Special Needs.

Escalators/elevators are to be provided at ‘A1’ category and escalators at ‘A’ category, ‘C’ category stations and stations of tourist importance, progressively based on techno commercial feasibility and availability of funds. So far, 244 numbers of escalators at 96 stations and 101 Numbers of lifts at 44 stations have been provided across Indian railways. In addition, 400 numbers of escalators at 171 stations and 400 numbers of lifts at 168 stations have been sanctioned. The review of action taken by zonal railways in this regard in a continuous process and is done as per need, priority of work and availability of funds.

Respected sir/madam, My mother in law is a 70 yr old senior citizen was about to travel along with an attendent in train no. 12424 with pnr status 2355803228 having tickets as wl 1,2. They were about to travel from NCB TO GHY. Its very urgent for them to travel to Ghy since my wife is not well. Kindly allot atleast 1 or 2 tickets to them so that they can reach here by today. Thank you. more  
Every year I travel from Bandra Teminus in Mumbai and find it very hard to get to and from the platforms, please make improvements. The other issue is the coolies should have fixed price for carrying baggage for example one large bag Rs 30, two large bags Rs 60 etc displayed on the platforms. The whole area around this terminus needs better road access aswell. more

Sr. Citizens had worked hard to bring their child to stand in the world with Pride. They worked really hard to uplift Nation. So its good move by Railway to enhance the facilty to Sr Citizens. more
