Actions by the Government - Healthcare

One of the big asks we have had through multiple whitepaper submissions since June 2014 has been digitization of appointments/files.

Govt hospital health appointments has been an area highlighted by many of the members in need of the same. I am pleased to share that the Government has taken actions on the same and the Prime Minister will be launching an e-hospital portal on July 1 through which patients will be able to book appointments for out-patient-department (OPD) check-ups and diagnostics, seek details of blood type availability and get lab reports. They will also be able to make payments online. Hospitals admission bookings will be available at a later date.

The service has been running in pilot mode at AIIMS and will cover 4 hospitals in the capital and soon be expanded to more hospitals in the country.

Once again, such system based solutions are key to bring transparency, improve efficiency/service and reduce corruption but it takes a while to develop them.

We will keep you posted as more Ministries implement many of our recommendations through process or system driven solutions.

Thanks,
Rajendra Pratap Gupta more
