Job permanency in India is the malady. All jobs should be based on contract and continuation should be on merit. Once a person gets in to job, they feel that till his retirement, it is his right whether he works or not. Privileges are enjoyed and responsibility is never felt by most of the people who join in the jobs. more
So true Dr Rao. I have said that before that in Indian government job no human resource rule is used. They need good people working. more
I was going through one article today "http://www.dailypioneer.com/todays-newspaper/karnataka-farmers--earn-138-by-direct--sale-via-e-trading.html' This article is really very good. The same model if it is implemented pan India then can bring wonderful results. But how effectively Govt.wing can do this job it is really question mark. Not only this kind of initiatives even if you see smart village concept so what is Govt measurement to develop all the villages in smart villages or cities in smart cities. Only announcement can not bring solution, along with execution /implementation is required. proper road map is required to connect everyone with the stream. Such kind of work model can be identified and can be worked out through PPP model. Employment can be generated in this way also which can contribute to National building program. People really will be very happy to become a part of such program and contribute their effort. Govt and corporate player can together work on this model rather than one or two consultant working independently. more
About Unemployment : As it is, due to the use of modern machines through Automation, the job-numbers are going down. On top of that, there are imports of a number of goods cheaply from countries like china. All major manufacturers of , for example, TVs, import them from China & sell in India. How will it increase the number of jobs in India ? ( Even in the Local Circles' discussion on artificial ripening of Mangoes, a mention is made of sing a powder imported from China ! ) . The Textile machinery industry got totally ruined when import of (used & new) machinery & instruments from abroad was allowed by the Govt. in the 1990s. This tendency of importing from abroad and consuming in India will never help in increasing Indian jobs. This tendency started from the 19080s, from the Govt of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. It made some industrialists become big & bigger, but the screw-driver technology did not help increasing jobs here. The one exception so far is the IT Software industry, which too is now in trouble ! The point is that, free-industry will always think of maximising their profits & no one can really blamer them for that, as they have to give good return to their shareholders. (That is why US industries go to Maxico, and Indian industries buy from China ! ) Only the Govt. can play a significant role here, by making suitable laws & implementing them. Mr Modi's ' Make in India' platform is a good bigining for inducing foreign companies to manufacture in India, thereby increasing Indian jobs ( It will also have positive foreign exchange implications). But that is only one step. Import of luxury goods from countries like China must be stopped by the Govt. and such goods for Indian consumption must be made in India. (The Industries & traders won't do this on their own. ) No doubt, WTO may be binding the Govt on some unacceptable points. Yet, in spite of this, the Govt. must have the will to solve this urban unemployment problem (in the manufacturing sector). #There are also other professions, like farmers, tradesmen in rural areas ; like cobblers, barbers etc. (I am referring to them by their profession for livelihood, not their casts) . Their needs also need to be looked into. #Moreover, There is a need to learn new technologies, which the Govt. must arrange at a very wide scale ( through NGOs etc) & encourage this learning through advts. and other means . # Such additional points will need another elaborate discussion. So at present, I am only making a mention of them. - Subhash S. Naik more
No Mr Naik the unions destroyed the old textile mills. Look at the old movies they all made the mill owner the bad person but they never thought if the mill closed down what will be future of the employees and the community? Typical socialist propaganda. When they went on strike they did not just shut down the mill they hurt the town and people that depended on them.
We need to make roads better so we can have better transportation to bring the trade in. Need water supply and electricity to each and every town. We in India do not have shortage of anything, it is mismanaged. why should we give free electricity and water to farmers and forgive loans? Who do you think pays for it? There is no such thing as FREE. Tax payers end up paying for it. If we stop giving free things they will stop wasting it too. In turn we will have enough for every one. This will bring foreign companies to many parts of India and people do not have to move to big cities for jobs and local people will have jobs. We should make it easy so locals can start businesses with out paying bribes or stating illegal. Let private companies train people for that job that they are offering. more
There are jobs for the scholar candidates in India and they are absorbed as soon as they finish their degree. The people who are crying and weeping have less qualifications. How government fulfill their requirements with their great expectations? They are not ready to perform any job offered with lower remuneration. They should get experience first, prove their skills and they will get the opportunity. See what is the situation in the private sectors undertaking by government? They are incurring loss instead of profit. more
Lack of actual job creation is our biggest concern as of now. Unless Mfg/Infra sector takes a quantum leap, it is not possible to generate real employment. more
