All is not ok with railways

While railways is redeveloping many stations and buying fast trains, they are miserably failing to keep trains on time maintaining cleanliness and providing clean bed sheets and blankets. It is sad situation. On top of that train arrival times are being gamed and actual arrival time reported is sooner than what it is to show less late or on time performance.

Its a sad situation. A good capable minister is needed to focus on existing operations while the current railways minister focuses on railways of 2025. I am serious. more

75 years railways whose importance can be gauged from the fact that until the year 2017, starting 1924 a separate railway budget was presented. So much government planning trains are unhygienic. My family travelled INDB 12415 train, Cls:1A, paying quadruple the finding the toilets filthy. Passengers from general compartment all using it! Ok, even, the toilet could be cleaned, but it wasn't! This in spite of several requests for cleaning up. Blanket only 1 provided, saving laundry too! Metro trains have the necessary wherewithal wherein the authorites can chanellise passenger movement using technology, such as smart card activated automated entry and exit. Railways however relies on humans to check themselves. more
They are busy in only fleecing maximum money by various tricks and at the same time cutting on facilities. more
Good points raised by Sri. RN Chopra. Train being late may be due to lack of proper infrastructure. New schedules are being introduced to accommodate faster trains. May be an additional line is needed in well-travelled routes. This will cost enormous money. It has to be included in the budget. Either IR is not planning well or it doesn't care since there is no accountability. On cleanliness, or lack of it: Travelers are must contribute in keeping the trains clean. Toilets must be properly used. For that, may be an education on Cleanliness is needed. I don't mean just for the travelers, but for the entire society. And it has to start at a very early age during formative years. That can be done ONLY by parents. A sizable population cannot afford toilets, so they use open public places. Toilets are being built, but I hear people prefer open public places. Again, Education on civic sense. As for clean bedsheets and blankets, the IR employees are not doing their jobs of having those washed before getting them to use by the travelers. It may be because of lack of overseeing. May be some other reasons.... These ideas are not new, but not being practiced. Overall. my assessment is poor planning and poor governance. All the best, Indian Rail travelers. more
The expansion n upgradation railway stations play important role in timely arrival and departure of trains. The number of trains increased manifold but railway stations are 30-50 years old. Permanent in improving the service n health of IR lies in PRIVATIZATION only. No govt. dump can be better or best service provider. more
There is No capable person for handling the dept. Even today rly. IRCTC website send CORONA Msg. to passenger although it was / is not there . It shows loose handling of the dept. In Govt. No person is having capability or guts / grips on Dept. functionaries . It is just running blindly at the GOD mercy. In fact these types of peoples should leave the chair first as a cleaning step. It is prove that uneducated peoples can do more efficient work if they have certain visions. more
