All should be banned from making copies of pan and aadhaar

Everyone please read this LocalCircles report and forward to all your WhatsApp groups.

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/financial-literacy-survey

97% people are saying that their aadhaar has been photocopied or digitally copied (hotels, govt applications) everywhere people’s data is being copied and in most places compromised

17% say they store their financial passwords in contact list of phone (truecaller, paytm, phonepe, google pay, whatsapp tik tok and hundreds of such apps copy your contact list) and if their databases are hacked (which happens regularly) all your info is with some hacker.

We need to demand serious restrictions against this. Most media is sold out and most brands want your data so this will be a lonely fight but an extremely important one.

Lets make our loved ones aware more

In the USA, the Social Security Number - SSN, is safeguarded closely. The only ID asked is the driver's license or a work/school ID. The Indian government does not have a SSN and therefore introduced Adhar, but it was misused by most because it was never advertised as private, nor were people educated about the sensitivity of the Adhar number. Now PAN is an invalid ID but its linked to Adhar, which is a joke. I guess our country will hobble along until something major happens, and then the government will wake up and introduce a new number. more
Don't give Aadhar card copy/details to anyone and everyone although insisted upon. Its likely to be misused. I avoid and its acceptable to those who demand. Just say, "I don't wish to". Other copy/details have less likelihood of misuse. more
For Hotel Give only Voter ID card , IT -PAN Card. No aadhar card is mandatory. more
What is the use banning something when serious damage is already done and data is openly available on the dark web? PAN and Aadhaar (and other sensitive information) details are sourced from multiple sources like Telecom companies, Banks, Insurance companies, Post office, Police records, Tax records, Institute databases etc. This is done either unofficially by unscrupulous employees/contractors or by hackers. Many offices have officially sold data as well as disposed off physical records in a extremely unscientiifc manner. I have seen paper having PAN card copies being used by roadside vendors to wrap stuff. That is the level of data protection that exists. What will a ban do? Didnt things work when PAN/Aadhaar did not exist? Is this a do or die thing at all? Why cant better ways of verification be used without capturing the PAN/Aadhaar number? Mere authentication should be good enough. more
Yes it should be banned. The wrong doers should be awarded 10 years jail without bail. Fraudsters of all sorts should tamed quickly and awarded exemplary punishment. more
