Analyzing railways complaints in a year.

Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) recently released a data that Almost two lakh complaints regarding choking, foul smelling and non-functional bio- toilets in trains were received from the public in 2016-2017 . You can imagine the neatness of bio-toilets in Trains. If they received such huge number of complains in a year, then we can figure out the real scenario, it might be ten times more.

In the report said that choking of toilet was the most common problem for passengers. There were around 1 lakh choking complaints received during a year. Since the figure is very huge and we don't know how many complaints they have attended successfully during the train running period. I am a frequent traveler on Railway and many times I saw the chocking complaints. Many times authority attended immediately, but many times not... Railway must keenly look into it and take appropriate step to reduce the number of complaints. more

We Indians like to use water for cleaning than paper. more
Bio Toilets I always said would be an utter failure in Indian conditions. I cannot imagine how this reality could have escaped the thinking of decision makers in the matter. First Indians are relatively not disciplined nor very hygiene conscious in general. We are still on the campaign against open defecation. Also see our driving and road sense for a sense of our discipline. Second how in the name of god could anyone knowing India even a bit, the way Government run entities work in India and their sorry work ethic that is the normal in such entities have even expected with a stretched imagination that such a maintenance intensive idea would work and sustain to model our Train Bogies in this manner. Such a wasteful idea and decision. The older system of Indian style Toilets in the Trains was perfectly suited and adequate for Indian conditions - at least for another decade. more
They should use only western type toilets with recycling fluid flush. more
