Anti-Tobacco messages on OTT

Smoking and tobacco consumption is bad and must be discouraged in all ways possible but Government of India seems to be taking this to another level.

If an a Netflix/Prime show there are two mandatory warning clips at the beginning and two clips in the middle of each movie and show and a static warning when the smoking scene is coming, it will cause lots of viewers disruption. Most people will end up forwarding it and purpose will be defeated.

Can LocalCircles Manager please do a study on this too. I frankly think the static warning is sufficient. Govt officers should watch Don or Pathan or one of the movies with smoking scenes with their families and then make policy and rules.

Consider it as an act of kindness for passive smoking since childhood + ospitalisation in GB Pant! Xclusively for India. more
The government should completely ban gutka & khaini, tobacco products, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. Fair enough, and I agree 100%. There are a few States in India where Alcohol is completely banned. I am sure you are aware that the maximum amount of illicit liquor is sold in these States. The government earns the maximum revenue from the sale of these products in terms of taxes. more
Bans do not work. I wish people stop pushing for useless government control. Start teaching young about this, tax tobacco product very high. That is the way to go. more
In school education about the harms of tobacco, public service announcements on children's favorite programing is the only thing shows this message is useful. Getting government involved in bans and regulating has shown it is useless and a money pit. more
all these kind of items like alcohol/cigarettes/gutka which cause harm to citizens but are money spinners even though govt knows about it does not have the courage to ban them since it funds their elections and also get commissions. On one hand govt wants to spend money on citizens welfare but do not have the guts to ban these items even though so many people die after consuming them .Even i do not think there is a warning given on the gutka package.Rich people will not consume any of these items hence not an issue for them it is only small people . more
It is ridiculous to disrupt viewing experience for such rules. Just ban gutka atleast. I think these gutka makers fund politicians so rhey have no guts to ban them more
BAN BAN BAN what a mantra Nikita that action does not work but mostly breed corruption. Schools should teach very young that this is bad and show why it is bad. Show graphics if the shock treatments are needed. more
