BA.2 likely to extend the pandemic

Some days back LC did a survey asking what is causing the surge.

I want everyone to know that the pandemic in India is likely to get extended as a new variant of Omicron BA.2 is driving a new surge in Denmark, France and Israel. Earlier it was BA.1

Now the good thing is in parts of India like Kolkata it was already BA.2 but in most of India it was BA.1

This means that if BA.2 comes in Delhi Mumbai Chennai etc it could continue to drive cases up.

We must discuss what can be done to minimise its spread and impact. more

Masking or better still, double masking, is the only solution, in my humble opinion. Not everyone can afford a N95 (or higher) mask, so even a double cloth mask would be okay in situations like this. Mask/s should fit snugly, that's most important. more
Nirmala Chauhaan the reality is this Covid is not going away and we will have to learn to live with it. You can not shut down the world forever. more
I beg your pardon all those who viewed this post. 1176 at this minute.10 people responded (3 repeat). 0.85% viewed it? I would like to know the academic qualifications or experience in fighting any epidemic of the author of this post. IN my opinion, this a paid promotional activity to help pharma companies. Denmark, France, Israel? is there any connection? Can the author point these countries on a paper map of the world? (Oops No Google). In real terms the author just want to get her fees depend on the number of posts. Yes, people make money even spreading rumours and lies. They are not only antinational but anti human being. Shame.Shame. more
I am not an expert on virology or epidemiology. Having said that, per my limited understanding, virus always mutates depending on the conditions of the host. Once the part population is vaccinated the virus mutates under the influence of vaccine and a variant emerges. Simply stated in layman's terms. The new variant is likely be less immune against the current vaccine. The host will require improved/new vaccine in the process. And this go on. Pharma companies want to make money and don't always reveal the complete truth. We have to live with this virus like influenza. It is expected to be periodic phenomenon. more
I would like to recommend the book called Virus by Matt Ridley. more
