sources in the Ministry of Railways sat private player is operating the service. The ministry will take action against the company.

This is not a one off, regularly people fall sick after eating railways food. In most trains its kept next to the toilets and in most pantry cars their are more rats than the employees.

Earlier in January begining I had a bad experience in Rajdhani when the train ran late by 6 hours and the Rajdhani Coach attendants marked as as already deboarded at 6 p.m. and did not serve dinner. On Complaint on Rail Madad, we were served a paltry meal of 100 gms rice and 150 gms daal...not even pickle at 10:00 p.m. after the Coach attendant and Pantry Manager of IRCTC had coaxed us to withdraw the complaint. Again I travelled by Rajdhani to Chennai on 17th...there was no improvement...but train reached before time. However on return leg from Secunderabad on 27th November, same bad food...the menu remains same (2 rubber type rotis wrapped in foil, 1 small 30 gms aalu-mutter subji, daal 150 gms, 100 gms rice and chicken gravy (non-veg.) & pickle & curd (100 gms) followed by dessert Havmore Vanila Ice Cream. The same menu repeated for dinner too. Since the IRCTC gets Food from different station for lunch as also for dinner, I am wonering how come the taste remains the same as also the preparation. There is a pantry car only for preparing tea? And that too in the return trip when we boarded from Secunderabad at 7:15 a.m., breakfast order was taken and served too....but the wait for tea continued with pantry attendants missing. I got to know that even Bed-Tea was missed out. There were 4 Defence personnel ( 2 Army & 2 Airfoce) and they rounded up and complained...T.C was hardly any help and just made hasty retreat. Then on complaint the staff and attendents came one by one...giving theories that the water did not heat up. It turned out that suddenly the Railways changed the Stove from Coil heaters to Induction and the Pantry did not have flat bottom vessels...and for boiling water on a small induction - I wonder why they experiment on passengers when they can do it on the flagging off with politicians to get first hand experience. On top of that in Rajdhani 2-Tier and 3-Tier Coaches, the IRCTC appointed private vendors are hawking and selling packed snacks and cold drinks...extra profits selling above MRP. Railways is really going to the dogs. more
railway food was never healthy. I have been given moldy bread in Rajdhani Express. There is well established nexus of contractors who provide all kinds of services including catering. Railways hardly has any quality control. Matters like food need daily monitoring On Wed, Nov 29, 2023 at 3:13 PM Shivani Khiste wrote: > more
Its the same reason that we should be nationalist and promote Vande Bharat Bullet trains /Hyperloop so that middle class and poor class gets deprived of such grievances and stop getting complacent in the interest of Atma Nirbar Bharat and keep voting great BJP forever . Jai hind and Vande Matram more
since it is oursourced and very seldom checks are conducted with respect to safety and cleanliness and hygienic conditions of food served and also if unsold they do not dispose the same but serve it next day by reheating the same. It will be good if there is some quality check done.IR wake up railway ministry please take note or ideally if not possible then stop it instead of supplying these kind of food at the expense of human life more
IR must ensure that hygienic conditions are maintained at the food preparation points as well as the trains. Wrong doers should be heavily punished. more
