Baggage management by airlines

A close friend went to port blair in a spicejet flight. Luggage did not show up and spicejet says it will come after 4 days as airport is shut. As usual clueless ground staff. People go to port blair for 3-5 day weekend not to earn livelihood and look for jobs spicejet. Chances are some have return planned that same day u propose to get their bag.

There has to be a way out. more

yes they have rules to give some amount for people to buy clothes and essentials like toileteries etc for per day.I think it is as per the dgca rules and also would be covered by the insurance travel if one has taken the same. more
Get your own protection, travel insurance that cover many of these things. This is not anything for the government to do. more
Govt or consumer forum can penalise spicejet and reimburse these passengers. more
Stop pushing government in everything. All what government gets involved in cost money to taxpayers. more
I think air-insurance and credit cards too have some compensation for delayed/damaged/lost baggage more
It is the airline who has to frame policy and compensation . what Govt can do . Globally airline decides on penalty and approved by IATA and Geneva convention more
