Diwali crackers must be understood in the context that if green, they are cleaner than the petroleum based obsession, in terms of dieselising our transport, especially the private vehicles, which benefit mostly the automobile industry alone. However it is easier to ban, until a general awareness increases than go through such differentiation that would also require a surfeit of adjudication as to whether cracker was green or not. Crackers also cause noise pollution. more
It is surprising that every time when Deepavali comes all sorts of campaigns start against fire crackers. If at all ban firecrackers completely. They are burst at any and every occasion at the slightest pretext or even without it. Why is this targetting only for the premier Hindu festival? more
Indeed! we are very late. Delhi has already done so and it should watch for it's implementation. It is for other states to follow. more
Only Diwali crackers create the problem and in rest of the festival and New Year it's control the pollution - 🥂 more
It may be appreciated that the crackers are notorious for (1) sound pollution : the enormous sound is distressful to many - particularly to old ageds, serious patents and cause hearing disability which may even be a permanent disability to infants, and (2) an increase in air-pollution by some thousands times in the area where these are burnt. Adversaries are again those aforesaid virtually hapless living of the mankind. We should remember that what is joy to one may be death to others! more
