Benchmarking Foreign Train Networks

1. In Hong Kong, passengers are allowed to enter the station at only a designated time before the departure
2. In Hong Kong, entering into the compartment is restricted to ticket holders checked by a captain in uniform at the door
3. In Hong Kong there is a pantry or restaurant within the train providing a variety of snacks and meals for passengers to choose from
4. The railway stations in the European countries are very clean and dust free
5. Trains in Germany follow a time schedule and are always on time
6. The toilets inside the German trains are also very clean
7. In New York, self-help vending machines are installed for purchasing tickets
8. In Beijing, the train toilets are locked 30 minutes before it enters the City
9. The coach attendants ensured cleanliness and orderliness in Beijing trains
10. The quality and size of luggage was restricted and the rule was strictly ensured in Beijing railways
11. All the trains in Australia are completely air conditioned
12. Most of the stations in UK have barrier gates where you need to swipe your ticket for the gates to open
13. In UK if you want to travel on a busy route then there may be a premium depending on the time
14. Stations and trains in the UK are disabled and senior citizen friendly
15. Rail services in UK have been outsourced to a number of partners
16. Every train in UK has 'Quiet coaches' and normal coaches. In quiet coaches you cannot talk loudly or use your mobile
17. The toilets are very good with a flush system similar to airplanes. These are cleaned and inspected at every station
18. The Dutch train system is punctual to the dot because of its connectivity with the bus and the tram schedule at each Station
19. The Germans use trains extensively to transport automobiles to different places since it is a more cost effective method
20. In Malaysia, the train doors cannot be opened while the train is moving. more

In all the countries, there is a penalty for littering or for creating a nuisance. Littering attracts HKG$ 2000 in Hongkong for littering. Time has that in India too, stiff penalty/punishment should be imposed in case of littering,spitting/urinating at non-designated places at station. Littering in trains should attract stiffer penalty. more  
Please provide services by concerned staff with honesty and passengers should understand the honest process of journey then Indian railway will make history in the world with the present system. more
