Cars of private individuals/businesses used by officials

It is extremely common to find that many senior bureaucrats have premium vehicles that they and family use but the vehicle is not registered in their name. It is registered in the name of some private individual or company.

This is essentially a way of bribery. Similar thing is happening where some babus live in premium flats or villas not actually owned by them.

Can people share such examples and let us then see how we can escalate this malpractice.

I have no problem if they have ancestral declared property and they are using that but accepting bribes in kinds is not acceptable. more

A rent free accommodation may be considered as malpractice but if the rent is charged from the officials can't be termed so. Some companies buy cars for their employees to use for official purposes but if they use the car for private reasons, they may be charged on kilometer basis. more
Government can control this to some extent by amending Income Tax Act. The operation and maintenance expenses and depreciation should not be allowed as business expense for cars registered in the name of a company. more
This is nothing new....corruption is universal except few countries....we need more robust digital systems in course of time. more
Corruption has become an inseparable part of our lives. Let us ask ourselves...... "WOULD I BE PREPARED NOT TO ACCEPT ANY SUCH BRIBE IF I GET THE OFFER OR OPPORTUNITY?" more
Sri. Padam Law, I haven't seen any comment for your excellent question. You are correct. We all preach but but when it come to us, we don't practice. more
If PM could not stop such prsctices, probably no one would. more
