CCTV Recording in Courts issue

Last year courts ordered CCTV recording in courts and we all felt delighted that such a request made by us through the localcircles was taken up by Supreme Court judges.

Today the news says that Supreme Court is saying that they will not make this available to public and a court proceeding recording will only be made available with approval of high court.

Can we file a petition on this please? If public cant easily get a recording of the court proceeding and has to go through high court to get it, will defeat the purpose of CCTV.

Please give your thoughts... more

In my opinion, CCTV footage of the Court proceedings should not be available in public domain otherwise Judiciary will lose its serenity and sanctity. It can be available only to the litigants on payment of nominal fees with a clause of privacy by not making it available to unconnected persons. In case it is circulated, such litigant would be liable for punishment. more
CCTV footage should be provided to affected parties only and also must be used to check the cause of undue delays in the cases. more
cONNECTED PERSON with the litigation or his legal heir can approach the relevant courts and ask for footage of the events of proceedings on payment of a nominal fee in c d record format much like R TI but supported by Notary signature that the person making the request is really the person related to the litigation or the legal heir. I think it is a sensible approach . Definitely such CCTV footage should become public domain view video Thanks Kasturi G Virus-free. www.avast.com more
CCTVs should be installed in all Courts to improve working and transparency. The CCTV footage should be made available to the parties concerned only without the approval of Higher Courts as the Hospitals provide CDs of surgery to their patients free of cost. E governance should cover all wings of administration to reduce corruption, cost and increase productivity for the benefit of common man. more
CCTV footage should be provided to affected parties only. more
Courts shall not be converted as Legislating Houses going every day disruptive on Business . more
