Why is Railways still operating 125 hospitals and 600 polyclinics around the country. I am sure for a license fee this could be given to one of the private players? more
Railways need such hospital net work. They have employees in remote areas and need at least basic heath facilities immediately. If given to private every thing will be commercialized and service will become zero. This will become another "arogya sri" scheme existing in Andhra Pradesh ( Old and Present). more
Better not divert the hospitals etc. to private as still to day, and all said and done, services of Govt. sectors are better and within reach of general people than private sectors. If possible Railway clinics etc. may also be kept open for public at suitable fees. The hi-fi look of private hospitals may be attractive , but they are going to butcher the common people with their high charges,(even the medical insurance people can not control them to restrict the charges of their various sky rocketing investigation and procedures) A good example may be drawn from the private catering example. A simple Veg. meal costs on train Rs 120/ while the same at outside normal eating houses will be Rs 60/ (approx). Once our earlier Rly Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee introduced Janata packed Puri-Sabji @ Rs 8/ which is a good example. So pl do not fall in trap of private players. more
