Coronavirus Impact on Travel

Coronavirus will massively impact travel in the next few months. Look at the video from singapore airport from yesterday. This airport is so vibrant full of people usually as its a major hub of asia.

The big question I have is are we as a nation prepared. Please share what you are experiencing during travels or what you know about testing of coronavirus.

Also since many govt officials are part of circles they must also share knowledge and concerns so things can be made better. more

Forget travel this year! more
I dont think nation is prepared because of lazy government and mismanagement of union health ministry, last week i arrived from bangkok to banglore and trust me before immigration i had to pass the body temperature test which was tested by thermal hand held gun by one of the security staff, i was surprised how lightly the government of india taking corona impact. I thought i will have to pass complete body test before immigration but just they collected one in flight provided filled form and body temperature test and after that immigration. more
It is very true. Creating awareness and safety precautions are required. Dos& Don'ts to be safe should be publicly exhibited in various places , institutions, offices ,market place malls etc. more
Yes, this highly contagious virus will have a devastating effect in various areas including travel. Every country has mechanisms to counter such problems. But, quick warning has to come which unfortunately did not happen in this case. Even the doctor who first raised the alarm died with it. more
The only precaution you can take right now is to isolate yourself completely from society. Even then, there would be people delivering food or making food for you and they will bring in the virus, when it hits in a big way. Alternatively, you will be managing these basic chores yourself and you will most like avoid the virus. A couple can isolate themselves together, if there are no children. That would be very effective as they are helping each other with daily chores. No visitors. Somehow, you have store enough staples such as rice and wheat flour to make your daily meal. Vegetables are delivered to the door and then heavily washed and immediately cooked. All these are DRASTIC measures and are being used by or for people who already have the virus, in order not to infect others. Short of that, get a vaccine when available. I think (other doctors would disagree) that ordinary flu vaccine will also help, in spite of the fact that it does not have specific anti-corona virus. For myself, I have had my annual flu vaccine. Being a doctor, I have been infect a thousand times with all kinds of viruses, so I probably have a lot of built in immunity. I stopped going to the Chinese store near my house. However, my wife still goes out to work, and on way back from work, does her shopping at another store, so I/we are not strictly isolating ourselves. Obviously, I can’t go and live separately from my wife! more
