Disturbing Unemployment Numbers

The country's unemployment rate was at a 45-year-high of 6.1 per cent in 2017-18, according to the National Sample Survey Office's (NSSO's) periodic labour force survey (PLFS), which has been accessed by a newspaper. The report was not released despite being vetted by the National Statistical Commission in December, allege two non-independent members who quit the data collating body on Tuesday. The report, revealed just a day before the government's interim Budget, sets up a huge controversy.

I would like the Govt to respond to this. Why were these numbers not revealed? more

Employment does not mean only Govt' jobs as mentioned in the earlier mail informal jobs are also to be considered, apart under employment and unemployment has to be redefined, also these state Govt's are cutting costs for manpower and diverting the funds towards freebies in all the southern states, odhisha etc...in AP/telangana more than 45% of the funds are allocated to freebies, and keep on increasing retirement age from 58 to 61/62 for electoral gains, how can employment be generated, all over india 5 lacs police constables jobs are to be filled? more
Dear Ajay Saha--The resignation has nothing to do with data generated hence your assumption is with no merit & substance in to it. One data could be that pertains to Formal Jobs and another one is in Informal Sector.Jobs under Mudra if we account there were nearly 130 million people who have availed nearly 6.5 lakh crore loans since inception of this scheme that provides loans with no guarantee or collateral. 70% are females so just calculate that 13 crore people means 13 crore Family got the advantage under this game changing scheme. So, you yourself can imagine that how many jobs have been created in Informal Sector which is back bone of Indian Economy.EPFo data supports numbers of Jobs under Formal Sector that were provided by the GoI. So, I hope you get it and change your views and correct your post according if you feel or come up if you need some more clarifications please. more
Correctly analyzed. 2011 Statistics also are cognizant. Agricultural sector, Marketing Sector AND Self employment Sector besides Construction & R & B Sectors had been covering MAJOR EMPLOYMENT in India.
To energize the Nation economically and improving the Employee Sector WHOLE INDIA NEED TO BOOST Schemes of Make in India, Start-up &Stand-up in India, Industrial and Livelihood Infrastructure in all the Districts AS ALREADY PLANNED IN NDA Rule. But the States must realize this Fundamental mandate of our Constitution.
Articles 21 , 15 (4) 31 (A), 38, 39 - a, b, c , and 41, were specifically intended FOR EMPLOYMENT & EARNING FACILITIES which had been grossly neglected since after 1990. more
The government's response is already in public domain as it wanted to include latest two quarter data to be included so as to present the latest picture of the issue. Is there anything wrong with that?. I see nothing amiss in that.. more
When people use media details and come to such conclusions, readers must be careful as media are globally found to be Fake, Fail and Dishonest! In India the level is little higher due to various economic reasons! So the writer must use available authentic routes first to get authentic official information and stop using such media speculations to come to conclusions and ask government when there is a body exclusively available to clarify! So please do not spread any misinformation or half truth or no truth on such platforms, asking questions no one authentically to reply! Thanks! more
