Does GST benefit rich

Interesting how poor people and commoners pay GST on pretty much everything they buy from biscuits to namkeen, milk to grocery

And rich buys iPhone, Luxury Cars, etc as Business Expenses, also claiming back GST

Tax Benefits actually favour the rich, It’s the poor & middle class who suffers.

Anyone differs? more

I think you need to know about GST before commenting. As far as I know, there is no Input Tax Credit available for cars - whether luxury or otherwise - unless these are used as a taxi business. Don't know about the iPhones myself, so no comment. There goes your theory about GST benefiting rich and harming poor!!! more
GST @18% on members contribution towards common expenses is one example of taxing common man while exempting rich. Attached please find a write on why GST levy is unconstitutional for cooperative housing societies. more
A lot of NONSENSE is talked about GST and effect on the POOR and RICH. Most, even educated, people do not understand that GST is just a new name for the earlier VAT and Sales Tax systems. However GST is not just a new name, but also an easier system. NO POOR MAN IS PAYING MORE THAX THAN WHAT HE USED TO PAY EARLER with the Sales-Tax regime. In fact the overall taxation level is lower with the GST system. Do not the poor people get a benefit by no income tax upto a specified level? Mallyas and Neerav Modis do not get this benefit. If they try other stunts to save taxation then they are liable for legal action. Let us not just go on talking about so called GST PROBLEMS, without even understanding WHAT GST IS? more
Before gst came in, we never asked about the tax component. Now, when we see a price tag, it says something and when the bill cones out it is something else. more
This is in line with other countries like US and UK shifting tax burdens from the rich to the poor. A major cause of inequality, this is justified by showcasing GDP growth to which the rich contribute disproportionately when they are freed of tax obligations. The kickbacks are also lucrative as anonymous political and politician funding booms. So, everybody is happy, and the poor can exercise their voting power to throw the leaders out. This way all politicians can have their turn at the loot! more
