There should not be complete restrictions on crackers. However, timings for crackers burning could be restricted for diwali as well as other festivals being celebrated by our different communities. The restriction must not be one sided. more
Enjoy the Diwali Festival with Crackers & Lights. Ask Peoples to sell their Vehicles & take Cycles to reduce pollution. more
India's fireworks industry is worth a paltry 2000 crore. Or barely 300 million US$. India's daily fuel bill is over 500 million. Daily fuel bill. Adjusting for carbon density and adding in other sources of pollution (such as domestic coal), the total impact of diwali on pollution is less than a third of a percent of all pollution created. So, if you really care, do the following: switch off the AC, eat only veg food, eschew all imported foods and drinks, sell your car and adopt a bicycle. And stop buying electronic gadgets that have a yeti sized carbon footprint. Till you do that, fiberals, and till you find 8 LAKH jobs (which is what sivakasi creates), take your sanctimony and false indignation elsewhere.. more
The biggest pollutants is not crackers, but plastics, vehicles, air conditioners... no one wants trees but they want shade and pure air.. ridiculous mindset of people. I do oppose high decibel sounds but not all crackers. more
For last two days crackers were burnt late midnight, and senior citizens, children, sick ASTHAMA patients underwent serious breathing problem. The whole air polluted and sound pollution was high. Though there were orders not to fire crackers, with the full convenience of local police, all high velocity fire crackers were made available to the public. Till corruption exists, banning or prohibition orders have no meaning. more
