Drinking water wastage

A full bottle of water left in Vandebharath Express by an honorable passenger. Not only this, I was sandwiched between an IT professional and a VIT student on my journey from Chennai to Bangalore. Both of them had taken the "free" bottle of water. The IT professional had taken a small sip and the VIT guy had left it untouched. I asked them to take the bottle with them at the Banglaore station. The IT pro said "no" and the VIT guy said that his bag was full. I gave them a piece of my environment friendly mind (water is precious, there are people who are dying without water etc.). The IT pro put the bottle in her bag. Not sure what the VIT person did.
Railways could give smaller bottles. Or better still, put a couple of water cans in each compartment with paper cups, instead of the "Free" bottles. There would be lesser wastage. more

Normal human behaviour for us it is abnormal. more
I noticed similar incident during my Gandhinagar to Mumbai. In many compartments, untouched/unused water bottles were left during its journey from Mumbai to Gandhinagar and they were taken by the coach attendant. In fact, passengers must be taught how to use rail services. Toilets were in shabby conditions, of course, later it was cleaned up. One happy situation is that since it is vande bharat train, no unauthorised passengers were seen. I just imagined the situation in other trains, unauthorised passengers roaming around freely in all compartments even in AC bogies. Will Rail Minister rise the bar so that authorised passengers have comfortable and safe journey. Last but not the least, security must be beefed up at trains and railway stations. more
I agree with the above views. more
This is normal human reaction to anything received without paying for it. Railways should remove the charges for water bottle from the ticket price. Water bottle should be supplied against payment. more
Kudos, sir. Surely students could study the basics - sustainability. more
