Drive against Tobacco

I am from Kanpur the gutka city of India and am glad to read that the ministry of health is mandating that those selling gutkha and tobacco products cannot sell candy softdrinks biscuits chips etc.

I know the members and local circles have been active in this cause. Please keep pushing so this new policy actually gets enforced. more

The mistake we are committing is treating babies, youth and old alike. Prevention is better than cure. more
While the Health Ministry's move is a welcome one, yet how it will be implemented and enforced is a big question mark. Because i have seen vendors selling cigarettes & gutkha in the moving train whilst the entire railway stations in the country are supposed to be tobacco free. Any takers ? more
Good step in the right direction. When is it coming to force and can citizens be involved in monitoring? more
Why not ban the sale of Gutka? more
I very much appreciate the steps being taken by this govt to control tobacco consumption by various means. Still, I would once again remind the Govt and all those in the Tobacco Control movement that nothing substantial will be achieved unless and until the role of the Indian Tobacco Board is changed as already suggested a number of times, more
What government / health ministry needs to do is mandate the deadly and slow killer drug like Nicotine which is the root cause for use of Tobacco . Unfortunately drugs like Afu / Ganja / Heroine which are very expensive and out of reach of common people are legally banned . But drug like Nicotine which cheaply available compared to other drugs in the form of Cigarettes , Gutkha , Khaini , Bidi , Raw Tobacco is not legally mandated in the world . There is young population of this country and many other countries which is getting hooked to Nicotine during their college days and once hooked and addicted not being able to come out thru out their life in most cases . The so called modern women of India , the future of our country - students are addicted to Nicotine thru Cigarettes and other tobacco products. All Hollywood and Bollywood film stars and directors are showing the scenes of Nicotine use in films which ultimately brainwashing the use of Tobacco as life style . more
can't we stop all tobacco product, to make healthy BHARAT more
