Education in India

Education in India has become a commodity ,thanks to every Indian parent wanting to make his child a doctor or engineer whether he deserves it or not.
degrees given to students selected on merit should be different from those given by institutes which take in students against capitation fees. eg. B Tech from IIT,NIT vs B.E from other engineering colleges or MD from govt medical colleges vs. mbbbs from other colleges.
those getting in to govt. medical colleges should automatically get admission to PG courses depending on their final year marks or other systems.
those doing mbbs should not have the option to even apply for these pg courses.
their pg courses options should include family medicine, rural medicine and integrated medicine(where in they are trained in homeopathy, ayurved and acupuncture,,AYUSH).
this will help us have doctors at grass root level and will eliminate quacks.
Vocational courses should be glorified and vocational industry should also be looked at as a professional industry.Wages should be comparable to any other graduate....this will inspire people who do not get in to professional courses to take up B.Voc. rather than B.S or Bsc more

This quota system for 2 years military service can be extended to other streams of education also. more
Fourthly, of those who have done MBBS , people would be given an opportunity to specialise in the various allopathic specialities by competing for M.D. at various private hospitals(DNB seats at these hospitals can be converted in to MD seats after strict scrutiny) more
thirdly , addressing the problem of lack of doctors in rural set up.those who have completed MBBS would be appearing for entrance for specialisation in family medicine, and integrated medicine. The PG courses should have a quota system with 25 % seats reserved for those who have taken up 2 yrs of govt service in PHCs,25 % seats reserved for those who have served in the military for 2 years.Quotas will not have the caste based reservation system. This structure will lure fresh graduates to take up 2 years service in military/PHC.the rest 50 % admissions can foollow the routine system. those getting in to the 8 year integrated MD courses in the beginning itself which includes the various specialities and the cream talent in the country, they would have to compulsarily do a two year duty at a centre directed by the govt. more
Converting all BAMS,BUMS and BHMS colleges in to MBBS degree courses will give us the advantage of having more MBBS qualified people in the existing infrastructure.anyways alternative medicine people do practice allopathy so training them in allopathy is safer.again by offering alternative medicine specialities as PG specialities and giving the degree of MD (integrated medicine) ,we are not losing out the knowledge base of these specialities. more
