Electric Scooters catching fire details

The regulator for electric scooters needs to be accountable for whats happening along with electric scooter and battery manufacturers. Most people dont even know who the regulator is. Here is what to note as a consumer:

Summer weather and high temperatures can be problematic for electric scooters. Lots of water, that is what is required to douse the fire in EV. Move away from the vehicle.

Battery pack is the primary source of high amounts of energy. How battery pack is taken care off is extremely important. EV should be able to withstand strenuous & extreme weather conditions in India

Chemical reactions in batteries lead to higher temperatures. Undue high temperatures can cause fires

Cells must be consistent in performance & must be procured from top manufacturers with extremely good quality controls. EV must have control mechanisms to prevent pack from overheating, drawing too much current or short circuit

Before products are put in market, there should be rigorous validation, no hurried market introduction. Hurried introduction can be a problem with new products. Customers should not be subjected to high initial risks more

ARAI(Automotive Research Association of India) should be taken to task for this type of Accidents. They do Certification & Standardisation of vehicles...These fires seems fishy and looks like a mischief played on gullible public......!!! more
EV is still in incubation stage, needs a lot more testing. more
I guess the electric scooter owners need to keep sufficient stock of Burnol as well. Instead of moving away from your burning vehicle, move away from such products. We were all waiting for Courts to take decision and the litigation would go over a decade and many gullible people would either lose lives or get burns on the back side. Manufacturers would happily walk back pocketing the money. Okinawa is essentially a Japanese origin company. Japs were at one time World Leaders in Electronics. Nissan, Suzuki, Honda are still desired & preferred 4 wheeler brands from Japan. In these company products, the cars were customized for Indian road conditions. Perhaps Okinawa didn't have funds for such stringent test.Ola is a high breed of ANI Technologies, Bengaluru....a start up by a Venture Capitalist. His venture earned him profits but for general public it is losses. Classic case of one mans dessert is another's poison. more
Apart from the choice of the batteries, it is important that we should have good regulators to ensure proper charging of the batteries with inbuild safety. It should cut off the charging if the charging rate is high, it should cut off if the battery is fully charged and it should ensure the safety if the temperature rises above pre set value. more
I wish people would think about the electric option a little harder before being sheep. more
