Encouragement to Science

Not just technology, India should lay emphasis on aiding first-rate research in science and make career in science rewarding to attract talents to the fold of science.

Intellectual property concerns should be addressed too.

India should also aggressively protect its traditional knowledge which is often freely patented by rogue scientists based out of the Western countries. more

Mr. Iyer, though I agree with your comment above, I have a different idea of 'education' Yes, like you said Indian educated are performing exceedingly well abroad. But they are the cream of the educated who go out hunting for material wealth. Modern system of education is turning out graduates by millions like machines. But our education should also impart value edition to the degrees which it confers. Patriotism, personal discipline and cultural values should be incorporated into the education system in such a way that by the time a student is out from the institution, he is a wise man/woman who loves his country first, respects his fellow citizens and gives more value to life. Since I belong to Andhra Pradesh, I can speak for the thousands of old and helpless parents living in old age homes craving for a spoonful of love and affection, when their sons and daughters are earning fabulously abroad! Sure they send money to their parents too ! The parents who spend all their youth and energy to educate their children are left behind in a desert looking for an affectionate word or a smile from their progeny. Mr. Modi in his speeches has spelt out his thoughts about how to retain educated talent and other methods to create job opportunities and systems how the educated can do something for the nation building. Let us hope his ideas will be translated into action slowly but surely. more
