Environment unfriendly hotels

Attached is a photograph of the mineral water bottles being collected by the housekeeping in a prominent 5 star hotel in chennai. The management seems to not care about reducing the use of use and throw plastic.
Whenever we stay or eat in a hotel, we always ask for normal RO water. We do not use the bottled mineral water. And the hotels have always obliged. However, in this 5 start hotel (we did not get accommodation in the neighboring normal hotel), when we asked them to give us normal RO water in a jug in the room, they refused. Saying that they do no have jugs or similar containers and that they could not fill it in our bottle. So, we used one bottle of mineral water and then whenever we went to a hotel for food, we gave them our bottle to be filled with normal RO water.
Agreed that most customers will not care about the use or misuse of these mineral water bottles, but at least when a customer asks for normal water, they should oblige. more

Cheapness makes their use rampant. Make plastic bottles costly, including environmental cost! Economy made up where possible, when with food one cannot. more
In functions too nowadays they have started with serving 100 ml bottles instead of serving in paper containers or reusable containers. Does this not lead to increase in plastics waste?. People may talk eloquent on environment, but when it comes to practising............. more
Carbon audit of all public places should be done and guideline for each place should be issued to follow. more
Agreed with comments by Mr.P R Vaidya Most damaging are 200 ml bottles. In any Conference or meeting you see these bottles. A normal delegate may drink 4 or 5 such bottles by the evening. Often they take few sips, leave the Hall and get new bottle when they come again.------for this smallbottels may be supplied to them more
