Excessive Air Fare

The localcircles survey is very right to say airlines are profiteering. We recently paid 10,000 per person for a Delhi flight which used to be 6000 so yes the fare cap removal is anti consumer and pro industry move by the Govt. I also feel media has been bought out through advertising and hence they shy away and in fact report how this cap removal is pro consumer.

Can everyone pls share their experience and LC escalate this to Aviation Minister? more

Aviation is a Capital intensive Business. In general most of the Indians can ill afford to travel by Air. We have opened so many Airports. Even UDAAN Schemes have failed. Most of the Airlines are Running in losses. Govt is not paying Airlines for the difference promised in Udaan Scheme. Many a places Good Roads are discouraging for Air Travel specially for short Travel. more
Competition will lead to competitive prices. Government should only watch out and prevent airline cartels. Any airline cutting corners that may impact on passenger safety should be ruthlessly put down, which will teach others a good lesson. Frills are not important but safety is. more
Yes loot by airlines, passengers suffer because free hand by government. more
Catharsis, which had to happen some time. The times of penetrative pricing are over, as more people are taking flights, having switched from railway, towards air travel, so airlines are now charging a skimming price. Flights continue being fully booked. We benefited from the former, therefore must face upto the new reality. Airlines have tp pay for costlier aviation fuel, employing staff and purchasing airplanes! So what gives! Just as well that ecologically higher carbon footprint transportation becomes economically costlier too. Hail the rationality, at least. more
Free market. Most Indian airlines are private enterprises and will do everything to make profits. They can charge any fare they wish. If one considers it exorbitant or excessive pricing, one has a choice of other modes of transportation. We all can learn from Sri. Deepak Darisi's tactics. Let's not demand/request Government's intervention, but let Demand dictate the price. more
