Fastag problems

The founder of LocalCircles Sachin Taparia ji has shared this latest survey on twitter questioning the road minister Gadkari ji on Fastag issues people are facing

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/fastag-survey

While the survey is an eye opener in terms of issues faced like tag readers not working, duplicate debit fraud deductions, it should have also covered how bad grievance redressal by banks and issuing agencies is.

Why has a centralised fastag desk not been established by NHAI formpeoplto go to who in turn works with the banks?

The Yellow line is missing on most toll roads before the toll booths. Infact, most drivers are ignorant of these rules and end up waiting for more than 5 to 10 minutes for the lanes to clear. This rule is never enforced, primarily to ensure the toll booth collection is maximized for the operator. more
I have faced multiple challenges with FasTag and had to fight to get my money back. Though I eventually got my money back each time, it wasted a lot of time in follow-up: 1) Double charging - Two swipes for one entry. This was reversed once it was pointed out. I guess this is due to placing reading equipment at close quarters in the same path, which is not correct. 2) Wrong charge - My car was charged the rate for a trailor truck at a toll plaza. It took a lot of follow-up including sending photos of my car to prove its a car and not a trailor truck!! 3) Abnormal swipe - The FasTag was charged even when the vehicle was physically parked at home. This was at a plaza over 600kms away. It seems there are manual over-rides on toll plazas where they can enter the vehicle number and debit a FasTag account. It seems that my vehicle number was wrongly keyed in (thanfully there were CCTV footages of the right vehicle/number) and thus charged, but reversed after a few weeks once this issue was established. 4) FasTag reader not working - Toll booth insisted on cash payment (double) for no fault of mine! Had to spend a lot of time protesting/debating to ensure that incorrect charges are not taken. This was on Mumbai/Pune expressway!! 5) Toll booths insisting on cash payment stating that all the FastTag readers are defective or not working due to power supply issue. more
The one issue I have encounterd south India, other than AP and Telangana where I have not driven, is vehicles without fasttag or balance entering the lanes, the counter person accepting cash and thus holding up the other vehicles. The other issue is lanes being closed even when there are several vehicles lined up. more
This is a very real issue. Clueless fastag babus more
I have used multiple times Goa Pune Mumbai highway without any issues. Even Goa Kolhapur highway is Hassel free. So things are in place in many states & roads, few hiccups are teething problems which with active and passive feedbacks will be taken care . more
