Foam in our rivers and lakes

Last year it was Bangalore lakes full of foam and today it is Delhi’s iconic Yamuna river.

If this is not climate change, what is I dont know.

Can we have a detailed discussion please on what all is causing this and then find ways of addressing this?

If we dont, we would really be leaving a sad country and world for our own next generations more

The foams are due to chemicals emitted by Industrial Units established in the Bank of Yamuna. During 2019 the water pollution was minimum and there was no foams, as Industrial units were closed on account of COVID. So for the present pollution the officials of Pollution Control Board should be made responsible. more
I think that foam in Yamuna is due to Toxic Industrial & Domestic liquid waste and not from climate change. If authorities are strict in implementing laws , we can have clean river water with no foam as in other countries. If you happen to stand near this foam ,you will smell these horrible chemicals. It's a heartbreaking state of affairs... So much toxicity in the Yamuna and nobody is doing anything about it. There is only talk but no action actually happening. more
In my opinion first thing should come first. Wean argue and find out the source of foam in water bodies a little later. Of course determining the cause is important and should not be lost sight of. But immediately our focus, I think, should be on removing and collecting the flowing foam somewhere upstream of Delhi in Yamuna river. As the foam floats on river water it should not be very difficult to collect and remove it from flowing river. A plastic plate 300 to 600 mm below and above river water shall collect foam across river at one place which may be sucked by a fan/ vacuum cleaner and collected on river bank/s to examine and determine its contents etc. Or they may use any other suitable and fast method so that people get early relief and also help in determining a permanent solution to the problem. In effect I think in matters of urgency we should look for immediate and quick temporary solution to current problem without forgetting that this is not a permanent and lasting solution. RYK. more
Oops! I even found Pakistanis, Afghans. Bangladeshis, Rohingya, even Srilankans polluting our river. But they all look like Chinese. more
