Govt approach must be reversed

As ET wrote, The government must be criticised for agreeing to demands that risk public health but the blame lies with the protesting farmers and their supporters as well, who make demands that deplete groundwater, degrade the soil and pollute the air. Agreeing to the demands on decriminalising stubble burning and continuing subsidy for free electricity for farmers is a setback.

That these demands have gone unopposed by political parties supporting the farmers’ protests, including the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, among the loudest critics of farmers who burn crop stubble, as well as sections of the civil society, particularly environmentalists, tells us of the low priority we place on human and environmental health and well-being.

LocalCircles must please please take this up so the Govt rethinks their approach. You cant give away health and environment to please farmers. more

Probably Farmers present laws are suiting our Politicians. That is why no Govt in last 70+ years tried to correct it. And that is resulting in to current agitation. Seeing the videos it seems most of them are rich enough. Thus Agri income should be taxed by all means. Presently we have only 4+ Crores Income Tax Payers. If we implement then atleast we will have 10+ Crores IT payers. more
It is a political game being played to encash support from the farmers, without educating them about the reality, in order to corner the government more
If the objected farm laws are really useful/beneficial why Top Government officials are unable to drive that point and convince them ?? If they are harmful to farmers, why hesitating to amend them ? As far as decriminalizing the stubble burning, farmers must think twice that it is not alone harmful for that state but also to the other neighboring states which makes the Air Quality poor rendering many sick. Even at one point of time, the Honorable Delhi High Court expressed its displeasure about stubble burning . Or else the Environmental ministry to come out with a Novel solution to address this perennial issue with a feasible , scalable solution. more
