GST : Please Use Surplus Manpower

When GST was introduced, the earlier Excise Duty, Sales, Tax, Service and likewise 17 Taxes & 23 Cess were discontinued.

GST operations are totally online.

What the surplus manpower doing? I may be wrong, but to me, it appears that the said manpower is trying to create problems for GST’s smooth introduction, because they all are not willing to change their working style.

And because all GST operations are online, it becomes necessary for the concerned employee to carry out all the work, using a computer. Now all the employees from earlier taxes and Cess may not be competent to do so. Only those competent could be retained for office work.

All the rest should be converted to field staff, and should be trained for basic GST operations for registering for GST, filing the GST returns and claiming the GST credits.

Once that is done, then all these employees need to go out, find the businessmen and traders, who have one or the other problem, help the trader (free of any cost) in resolving the issue(s), and then move to the next one.

If that is done, slowly the problems shall start disappearing.

I wonder, why there is no such step, even thought of by the department, and what is being done with the surplus staff in all these departments for the taxes and cess, which has been discontinued? more

There is considerable confusion in the minds of people regarding GST. In the name of GST, consumers are being fleeced. The GST was supposed to subsume all other taxes but when I got a watch repaired recently, both GST and state taxes were levied. Authorities have to look into these aspects, otherwise the confidence in governance will be eroded. more
Dear Mangesh It would be good if a VRS is announced. They get lumpsum money and thereafter work as independent GST practitioners. more
