H SUNDARA RAMAN

GST for Apartment Maintenance

I am living in Amarprakash Appts, Chennai. The builder is doing maintenance of the Apartment. The maintenance charge is Rs3/- per Sq.ft.He charges GST 18% on this. As all the houses are between 1000 to 1500 sq ft ,the monthly maintenance charges will be between Rs 3000 to 4500 only. Are we required to pay GST? more

Take his GST no and check if he is paying GST or simply charging from you. Somewhere in this forum i have seen an APP where you can check. If he is not paying you can claim refund. more

Please note that you are not required to pay 18% GST up to a monthly maintenance charge of INR 7500 per member in a residential complex. more

Please see Notification No. 2/2018- Central Tax (Rate) dated 25 January 2018. Divide your quarterly maintenance charge by three.If the amount is less than 7500 you need not pay GST. more

Can you please share the Section /Rule of GST wherein it is stipulated that GST willnot be payable on monthly maintenance Charges. I am also asked to pay GST on maintenace Bills.

Except Undivided[or divided AP-TELENGANA&ORISSA]7 some leaset developed states who needs special category Journalists to report about citizen owes,every where the GST is charged on Maintenace[it was vat previously]But on renovations it need not be charged. more
