Gutka Or chewable tobacco ban a must

We have 4-5 members in the extended family who are addicted to this and 4-5 times a day they must have the Gutka. It is available easily and unless supplies are shut down nothing will happen. All the shops pay to the local administration and sell.

The LocalCircles survey has captured the sentiment well in its survey

However what it has not captured is that the pan masala and gutkha wala’s fund netas at many levels and hence no PM CM Mantri, MP, MLA, Mayor will easily be able to act against them.

Most of them have manufacturing units in UP. If Yogi Adityanath is prompted to act against them, it could bring clarity. Either most of them shut their gutka business or they dominate. We should demand this. more

From the Scale 1 to 10, Gutkha is the most menacing Addiction in India. It not only hazards the health of the consumer, but also spreads diseases as it's spit out in the open. Banning it's sale is not the answer. It's production units should be raided with stringest punishment like local Hooch makers. more
You are saying both point. Govt. Earns a lot from gutka & alcohol. How can it be stopped. The best way is it should bought under MEDICAL POLICY. THAT IS ANY DECEASE ARISES BY CONSUMING GUTKA OR CONSUMING ALCOHOL AT ANY STAGE WILL NOT COME UNDER MEDICLAIM. I HOPE PEOPLE MAY THINK NOT TO CONSUME. Shivani Batra the fact is that bans do not work. All it does is creates blackmarket, taxpayer money gets used in government offices and in policing the criminals with no good results. If you are so concerned about the ill in society I would suggest public service messages and teaching children why this is bad. Start a campaign in local areas, schools to increase awareness. In USA there is a ban on tobacco and alcohol sales to miners. The businesses are fined if they are caught selling to miners but guess what there is a rise in the number of young smokers. It is the family and society that needs to work on this. Stop pushing for nanny state. more
Answer is simple . If You have diabetes ,will you eat sugar or sweet ? It is fully depend on you. Not to blame other. If You & the person is not able to control then what you will do ? why every time blame to Govt ? Being a Citizen what is your duty ???? more
Ms. Shivaniji please note that ''BAN'' does not solve any issue. Everyone has freedom to choose what they want to eat or consume. The only solution is to create awareness about ill effects of Gutka Or chewable tobacco. Government and NGOs should create awareness on massive scale. MLAs and MPs of your area should be roped in to create awareness of bad effect of Gutka Or chewable tobacco. more
