Household Squeeze Corrections from next Government

We have seen since the elections that prices of milk and tolls have gone up.

Can everyone please write about the interventions we need from
the next Government ?

My inputs are as under:

Prices of food grains
Prices of vegetables
Prices of petrol and diesel
GST rationalisation on foods and other daily need items that are at 12 or 18%
Lower insurance premiums
Lower GST on services

Everyone please suggest. more

Non Pensioner Senior Citizens must be given some relief. 1. Increase the Interest rates on their FDs. 2. Relief on their Medical, both IPD, OPD and Health Insurance Premium. Even GST rates can be reduced on their Medical Related Expenses. Some Relief on their Travel Expenses. Rail, Road and Air etc. more
It is understood but we need to understand the economics.while granting increase in freebies and subsidiaries on one hand and increasing taxes/input material costs, the end product cost is bound to go up. It is only salaried class(particularly in Pvt sector)which suffers and bears the burden. more
Prices should be fair and compensate the producer. Profiteering and speculative gains should get curbed. A stable price regime is more important than a unregulated or a controlled price scenario when input costs keep rising due to various factors, but selling prices remain unchanged. We must learn to bear a fair price for all the items of normal consumption from food to fuel. This would obviously mean a fair tax regime and less tinkering with rates related to items of mass consumption. We must also understand that artificially controlled prices are not sustainable. There will be regional disparities and seasonal variations in prices of foods/perishables. The government needs to do its bit to prevent spikes beyond a band and make temporary interventions to moderate the selling prices without impairing the farmers/producers. Growth of producer companies and marketing cooperatives should be encouraged especially where farm produce is concerned. This needs a long-term strategy and much more delegation at the local government level. Barring Central taxes, the Central Government should perform more of an advisory and protective role. The State Governments to the last mile has to be a big stakeholder in this at the ground level. more
We all want world class services to be given by the government but we want to pay very little or no taxes. The GST council consists of state finance ministers and none of them will want the GST rates to be reduced because they get back more than 50% of the amount that the state pays. more
Let the LOC take this up with the PM office strongly, they should be able to do so now that the BJP are in a spot of trouble. Let them know what it is like to feel the pinch of goods going up day by day where the average household has to sacrifice so much whilst the politicians play with money untold. more
