Hygiene on Trains & Railway Stations

If we are to improve Indian Railways, first and foremost we should improve the hygiene and Cleanliness on Trains and Railway Stations. Without going into too many solutions / ideas, I would say focus on 1 top priority item. And for me that would be to change the toilet system on the Trains.

If you see today our trains still use 1960s model of dumping toilet waste directly onto tracks. This means that whenever people use the train toilets the discharge is directly coming onto the ground. The problem is even more pronounced when the toilets are used on stationary trains in railway stations.

This is the single biggest cuplrit towards unhygienic railway stations with all the stench and horrible state of our railway tracks.

Please, with immediate effect, upgrade the train toilets to a "collect and dispose" system. It could be for example a vacuum based systems which are cleaned up and emptied whenever trains enter a station through an automated suction mechanism for dumping.

Keep our railway stations & Tracks clean and hygenic. more

Green toilets should be used in all trains.. few trains got so dirty while traveling.. govt must take some immediate action for cleanup the trains. 1 train I want to let you know is saharsa amritsar garib rath.. this train when reaches delhi, become horrible.. you have to think twice before boarding the train.. plz try to improve this situation.. more
Do agree with Ms.Anita, we can use tanks which contain bacteria to eat and degrade the solid particles which can be offloaded like what is done to aeroplane. This can be further taken directly to sewage treatment plant or decompose to make fertilizer. Vacuum system can not be used as we Indians are neither literate enough nor so cultured to know what to be thrown or what not to be thrown in the vacuum system and so using it is not feasible in next 20 years. more
I agree some kind of suction system should be developed and all waste should be collected and should be converted to manure more
What about converting them to Bio-Toilet. more
