Important to pay attention to existing Railway ops

India needs more normal, clean express and passenger trains with nominal fares, and assured safety. Not VandeBharat trains, the making of which consumes scare resources. This in turn jeopardises passenger safety because for every "nice" train, the cuts have to come from somewhere. There's no surplus staff in any department of Railways to cut back on. So which department is doing with less and less money each year?

The current minister is a failure on improving quality of existing operations. He is good at new launches and innovation. May be have 2 Rail Ministers. The minister for state in railways generally are useless beings more

Paying attention to existing railway operations is crucial for safety, efficiency, passenger experience, environmental impact, economic benefits, infrastructure planning, and integration with other modes of transport. Agree, Not VandeBharat trains, the making of which consumes scare resources. Capital savings needed. Utilise human resource. more  
Brownfield improvements, in normal, clean express and passenger necessary. Preserve the value of the existing operations, hybridizing the 2 - existing and new. Flexibility helps. Use go-live phased improvement. more  
Vande bharat is perhaps a childish idea of Railways to cater to the INDIA. What Bharat requires more Dindayal type trains with punctuality and minimum cleanliness. There are reports already that some Zonal Railways have stopped Vande Bharat. Huge attention, resources and right of way is wasted. The return may not be good. If Railways run normal trains with adherence to their own schedule (no delays) that will fetch them more money. Fancy or nautanki is not required. more  
Robust system must be in place to run the railways efficiently with efficient humans. But unfortunately, recruitment doesn't stand on merit and so the mishaps. more
