Improving usability of GST Portal

One of the issues with GST is the usability of the GST portal. As of now, it is just being used for data entry (invoices ...), payment of GST and for GSTR3B (setting off the tax against the balance). Some basic intelligence and usability would help the users (who may or may not be IT savvy) to a great extent. The following are some suggestions:
- The dates for filing of the various forms are shown only on the home page (before logging in). These dates could also be shown on the user page, after one logs in.
- The dashboard itself is cumbersome. One needs to select a month and then see the details. As the number of months increases, it would be extremely difficult to navigate the same. instead, when one logs in, the pending activities for each month could be shown along with the input credits. Clicking on each of these activities, could take the user to the form where the activity needs to be completed.
- The messages could be made more clear and meaningful. Instead of just saying, the form cannot be submitted for the client date, it could give the date by which the form can be submitted or filed. If the date is not announced, it could say that the date is not yet decided.
- the invoice amounts and tax amounts needs to be filled in multiple places. If it could be filled in one place and the same could be reflected in others, it would be easier.
- sms alerts of the payments, filings that need to be done, at least a week before the dates would help the users from taking action, without paying penalties.
- A simple monthwise report of what activities have been done by the user and what needs to done and by when, would help.
- any changes/enhancements done could be shown in the home and user pages.
- Contact details for help to be prominently displayed in the user page (after login)

Hope Infosys and the ministerial team incharge of making the system robust think through some of these points. more

Complexities such as RCM, eligible/ineligible ITC, and GST on Advance receipt /Payment etc should be done away with so as to make not only GST but also Accounting smooth and simple. more
Padmanabhan sir great job. Suggestions need to be implemented immediately. more
Yes, the suggestions are good. Also, first of all, they need to see that the software for filing works without any issues, like EMsigner need to be restart, showing no balance in your account even ledger is showing balance (technical issues) etc. Also, FM announced waiver of late fee almost 15 days ago. But till date, it's not implemented in the software. Also, the return should be simple like VAT returns. Who will understand this B2B, B2C, bla bla bla... more
I endorse above suggestion alongwith one simple karnataka VAT type return where all the details are captured need to be provided and sales & purchase details additional entry both by buyer & receiver can be provided and one can upload other can just accept and any diff/mismatch the mismatch figures should be uploaded by reciever/buyer !! more
