Improving Women Safety in Trains - Addl Inputs

Improving Women Safety in Trains

1. Atleast 2 RPF personnel should be appointed for every train
2. People should be sensitised towards the needs of the fellow passengers
3. A separate helpline could be started to report such cases
4. Caught accused should be severely punished and made an example
5. An emergency alarm system could be installed in every compartment which could be used in case a women passenger is scared for her safety
6. People who have consumed excessive alcohol should be de-boarded from the train
7. Trains could have a ladies only compartment
8. The contact number of the TTE on duty should be flashing in every coach inside the train, so that he could be contacted in case of such an emergency
9. Retired military personnel could be hired as security to patrol the moving trains
10. CCTV cameras could be installed in the coaches to keep an eye on the happenings
11. Women TTEs could be employed by the railways
12. Even attendants for each coach may be advised to ensure that there is no eve teasing and harassment of female passengers
13. In sleeper and AC coaches, at least one cubicle of 4/6 berths should be reserved for women travelling alone
14. Two-way public address system could be installed in trains so that the female passenger can speak to the TTE/driver/authorities in case of a safety issue
15. TTE should be given full power to stop the Train and call the RPF whenever he gets notice from the passenger in case of harassment
16. A RPF man with requisite arms should be there in women coach
17. A door should be there to lock it from inside and a small window to see who is knocking at door to open or not to open the cabin. more

dear sirs, i travel everday basis in local trains of Mumbai. Unlimited people travel and use limited indian railways in central and western railways. There is mechanism to prevent people from SPITTING IN AND AROUND RAILWAY STATIONS AND PLATFORMS. BUT WHAT I NOTICED IS ALL THE PEOPLE SPIT IN THE TRACKS AND HENCE ALL LOCAL STATIONS RAILWAY TRACKS REDDISH BROWN IN COLOR.SO WHAT I REUEST IS MAKKE AWARNESS AMONG PEOPLE THAT SPITTIN EVEN TRACKS ARE HARMFUL TO YOU AND OTHERS. The TTE of the train just slept away when when I woke him up to inform about the theft of my aunts purse at 5am while travelling from Ahmedabad to Borivali. And above all, there were no RPF personnel available in the entire train when I went about looking for the in all the reserved coaches. more
