Increasing capacity of railway lines

The top most priority of railways is to increase the utilisation of present tracks by various means.....First it should be ascertained what is the % utilisation of tracks in different areas. This figure may be available with railways as a ready recknor.
2. utilisation of tracks should be improved significantly. I quote an example here from one of my personal observations on a main city station of india. on one platform, one express train can come, stop & depart within a total time of 10-11 minutes. Here passenger trains can take some more time. thus on an up/down track, a total of 96 trains can pass thr' taking an average of 15 min.in 24 hrs. considering this I feel there is much scope for improvement in this area.
3.If this is done by increasing all other necessary requirements, then the same track can be used to run more trains & thus increasing the carrying capacity of tracks. Here we hv to make more coaches for new additional trains.
4.However, it will require removing bottlenecks in the system-like doubling of tracks where only single line exists & a stoppage is necessiated, better signaling system.......to be continued more

Yes very important. Numerous studies/ Commission have submitted reports & RDSO/ Rlys already have SOP for deciding over capacity of Lines. GOI must provide FUND as of National Importance & get the new line capacity increased more
Yes you are right Mr. Nirmalan.I always travel by ajanta express .From Secunderabad to Manmad it is always right time but from Manmad to Secunderabad the train stops just before the station for nearly half an hour or more to get the platform & thus is always late. more
India needs proper doubling of railway tracks to avoid the stoppage of trains due to crossing. we need to ensure that there are enough loco pilots in each state so that there is over working we need proper rail coaching factories so that we can introduce new trains and we need special freight corridor more
I agree with you Bajrangji. more
5. The speed of all existing trains should be increased by at least 20% & necessary changes required can be done in existing tracks capable of taking care upto 50% increase in speeds. gradually. 6. we are thinking for bullet trains where the cost is enormous even for a single route, therefore the top priority should be better track utilisation by all means in our country where we hv scarcity of funds. 7. The planned scheme of seperate stations/tracks for goods trains should be implemented at highest priority, thereby releasing track capacity which in turn can be used for running more trains.& thereby increasing passenger carrying capacity. more
