Is Covid 3rd wave visible

28 July COVID19 snapshot:
43159 new cases, 640 deaths & 17.3L tests y'day.
7-day average TPR: 2.4%
3.97L active cases & shrinking -0.21%
Total: 3.15 Cr cases, 422695 deaths reported

Just 3 days back we were at 25000 cases or so for the nation. Kerala off course is in bad bad shape and needs total lockdown not a weekend lockdown alone. Attached state level data.

My estimate it will likely be a month before major surge comes. What can be and should be done must be discussed here more

If Ayurvedic Treatment of Patients from abroad and other parts of India is the reason, then Central Govt must intervene and stop it immediately. You can't leave it to the State Govt alone. more

Our choice to limit the attack is limited to the strict compliance of the Covid guidelines and clamping complete lock down at the centers showing any signs of rapid surge of the epidemic. To ensure strict compliance of the Covid guidelines, the government and local authorities must make suitable provisions for stringent punitive action against those found guilty of disobeying and spreading the disease. Meanwhile, vaccination including children should be accelerated and covered 100% of our people at the earliest. more
Probably, one of the reasons for Kerala's spike: tourism. The attached news item mentions that ayurvedic retreats have opened up for treatments and national and international tourists are coming to these resorts. What checks and balances has the govt put for the arrival of international tourists and what steps the resorts have taken is not known. https://thegreaterindia.in/trending-stories/keralas-ayurvedic-retreats-innovate-to-stay-open/ more
Can states like Kerala at least get the information on each of the cases and do some analysis of the reasons for the cases not dropping, - vaccination not administered (1st and/or 2nd dose) - wet markets, including fish markets - crowding (events, functions or otherwise). In fact, every state needs to do some such analysis and take steps to curb the spread. Just saying we are prepared to treat the patients for the 3rd wave is not enough. Prevent the 3rd wave - that should be objective of every citizen and administration. more
In Bangalore, cases were hovering around 500+ last week. On Sunday it was around 150. This week, the govt opened up more crowding activities, including sevas an other rituals at temples. Since then, the cases have gone past 500 per day .
Can the adminstration wakeup from its slumber? more
