Is Print Media in pocket of telecom companies

Other than LocalCircles I see no media outlet talk about all the spam sms and phone calls we get these days.

Now a days the spammers have becoming bullying and threatening. The other day someone called to offer me a loan (of course sounded sales) and when I said No, he started bullying me. Why do you not want a loan. You dont understand how difficult it is to qualify. Then when I said this is not a good time, he says why.

So now we consumers must answer phone calls of these people and explain to them why we are busy and not interested in their loan.

Of course the regulators are sleeping but we need platforms like LC to wake them up from their deep slumber.

Can it not be punished by regulating agencies? This becomes a sort of disturbance. more
Businesses will seek to solicit clientele. Technology comes with its own set of challenges. For such callers use the DND registry option. Report all obnoxious calls. Use call tracing applications such as Truecaller. Report and put in remarks against all such callers that annoyed you. Over time, these calls will start reducing. The telecom companies provide only their network. Databases of phone numbers are sold by many agencies like schools, colleges, shopping malls, hotels etc for a fee. Try and identify where the source of data could have been from. It will help you elininate the menace, slowly. more
Avoid to respond to calls from unknown numbers/persons. You can also download the App 'True caller' which will tell you whether the call is a spam and/or from a fraudster. more
Block the number. I too have received lots of calls and in the 1st 30 seconds, cut the call. Block the number. And keep doing it, I must have blocked over 200 numbers by now. Every single app or service that needs access to your mobile number is selling your data. And all your social media accounts are ripe for the plucking. Even if you do not have a social media account, one leak somewhere is enough! There is no solution for this other than we being careful what we share online and blocking these unwarranted calls and callers. Reporting them will do no good. The Telecom companies have far more issues on their hands - making more money - for starters! more
True Caller App helps. Once the caller is identified you can block the phone Number used for making the call. more
