Job creation not happening

Companies that used to take 8-10 students from iit are now taking 1-2 and week one placements are now down 30%. See attached.

Key point is if IITs have this situation what the situation would be at NITs, Govt colleges and private colleges.

We should discuss actions needed by Govt and industry to create new jobs more

You know shit is serious when iit is opening 4.5Lakhs annum company to btech students for placement... With 36 months bond more
one must realise govt spends so much money on iit engineers but majority of them go overseas for various reasons.Companies are slowly not coming for selection in iit for the simple reason is that many of them do not join so companies waste so much time and energy for the process but ultimately if the candidate does not join them or leaves them after some time since their aspirations to go abroad either to study and then job but do not think of coming back more
In a free society and free economy job creation is NOT the job of the government. When government creates a job they pay with taxpayer's money as government in reality does not generate money. It takes it from taxes and distributes to whom the bureaucrats feel fit. Let's think of many layers of employment that is needed in India. The best way to do it is creating private partnership with colleges. We don't need all IT, or other sector engineers, we need electricians, mechanics, plumbers, small business related marketing, sales and much more. Specializing in those areas too like cars, scooters, heavy equipment machines, commercial and residential plumbing, building and more. Why not set up those areas with classes in high schools and higher levels colleges and get the local companies to hire them as interns. If they perform they can have a permanent job with that particular company. Most engineers that high level colleges graduate in India are leaving India for positions elsewhere in the world. Many schools and colleges are teaching outdated way that does not help the student job skills. Many are graduating from "Government colleges that are using taxpayer money" but end up leaving India. That is loss of tax dollars in India. more
This idea by Mr. Rai is a joke. Please study the system and learn.....how many IITians are willing to join as engineers in Factories? Most of them only look for White Collar jobs to it in Air Conditioned offices. more
Great point more
There should be more employment at reasonable salary. Under employment is very much there. Due to high cost of governance, there is virtually no employment in govt sector. Some States are spending 60-80% of their budget on salaries n pensions. Rest goes for paying interest on loans raised by them. Nothing is left for development and creating more employment. Govt. should find some solution to this socio-economic issue. more
