LC - excellent work on Consumer bill

Its super awesome that the consumer protection bill has been approved.

Full credit to Consumer Affairs Ministry, LocalCircles and members who regularly raise consumer issues.

This is big policy amendment. It brings Class Action Lawsuits to India which is a big consumer empowerment feature.

If now a RO machine is not working and one consumer report the issue can be taken up by the regulators after doing a quick survey on the issues and the moment 30-40 consumers are there a class action suit can be filed.

As ministry makes rules for class action suits we should discuss and provide inputs such that it becomes a major tool that works in favour if the consumer.

Pls share ur thoughts all members more

In any case it is a very good move and can be used effectively if customers are play their role properly. more
It should have been passed a long before, anyways lets see effectively it can be executed and how much consumer and up to what extent they get benefited. more
It is good on Paper let us see in Implementation that is where we normally fail more
I feel people should buy any item from the next door shop available, instead of going far for a few Rupee less. So that one can catch the person, who sold it. A bill should show, for the amount paid. Then there should be no ambiguity. I have always done the same. If still face problem and need to go to Consumer Court, better find out from Google, which consumer court would take this case. more
A time limit for disposal of Consumer disputes should be fixed. more
