I dont generally read ET but my husband saw this and sent as he knew I regularly interact on this site.

Good that economic times has published whats happening in circles, it gives us more hope that we will be heard.

Last budget was disappointing for upper middle class. Hope this one isnt. I cant figure out though why people think agriculture should get top allocation. Its an inefficient sector. more

Agriculture should get top allocation but not in terms of freebies De-silt all lakes and river; availability of water will ensure more crop production, which in turn will reduce the food prices for middle class. More water will ensure better green cover, lesser soil errotion, more living organisms... all of which will result in better environment. Also, every village should have self generating electricity thru solar or wind. For better irrigation, farmers need power to water the lands. Farmers getting subsidies should reduce. They will have enough money with better yields. Hence, allocation should be high but for better things. Also, tax exemption should be given only to those farmers having more
Gopababu, Fundamentally price level never go down Govts can only reduce the rate of moving up by controlling inflation. BJP Govt has brought down inflation hovering at 10% to around 4%. GST has actually reduced the incidence of tax on each daily use item and once the system gets implemented net component will come down. Hindustan lever has just returned 119 crores to Govt on account of additional revenue earned on pre-GST rate in their extended pipeline. Corruption at higher levels have come down and middle men are eliminated. Most benefits are directly delivered through digital payment to the bank account of beneficiaries. I agree Courts are still biggest hurdles but Govt is helpless. Criminals from politics can be removed by public awareness. So long we even elect persons who are convicted ant in jail it will continue. It is a very sensitive matter. more
If only 2-3% Indians are tax payers, the sad thing is that Government won't want to give relief to those minority people, rather if they give more relief then the other 97% might suffer. If the government wants to be popular they will try to appease the Farmers because 22% of the population are farmers. If India really wants to move ahead, they should tax Rich or farmers with higher incomes. Make it structured and start proper taxing on Rich Farmers too. more
Control of Wealth Concentration under art.39 b, c, for implementing Duties mandated in part IV of Constitution shall be a never ending process and requires rich whether Businessmen, Politicians, and of any Filed of operation , including Agriculturists that yield on beyond TEN ACRES OF LAND . more
I don't feel our circle members need any clarifications as to why the agriculture sector is so important for any nation! Similarly, I also don't feel that the upper middle class people are really in the need of any special attention in the national budget. more
Government is not really bothered about the people, except their political agenda. There is no action against price rise. GST has increased the cost of all items. Black money is not controlled. Corruption is still continuing - unabeted. Good number of cases are pending in courts. Criminals are parts of politicians. Inside India, you have to Register your vehicle, where ever state, you are transferred. What the Finance Minister has assured in the past and will assure in future. more
GST Returns if 100% carried for a 12 months, every Citizen Salutes the Government and keep forever. more
