Loot by hotels need regulation

If you're headed for the India vs Pakistan match, you may want to call up old friends in Ahmedabad as hotel rates are beyond affordable! the room tariff for Oct 14-16 has shot up to INR 1.8 lakh rupees per night as compared to INR 12k per night in july. What is this utter loot. Can there be a hotel regulator in the country. What does the tourism ministry of india does other than coordinating VIP accommodations for mantris and babus for heir travels. Can LC manager take up the issue please. I under off season and season but I dont get ultra loot season concept. more

This socialist talk has no meaning. Do you know that one hotel business employees so many locals? Do you not understand the laws of economics? more
It is a matter of demand and supply. It is normal business in every item to raise price when the demand is more than the supply or availability. It is not a black mailing like the black mailing by hospitals or the doctors. In impugned case if someone could organize camping sites with a transport facility for the venue, it would serve multiple purposes, including price/demand check in hotels. more
Govt. should check exploitation throughout the year. Room rent should be capped at 3 times of normal one. more
In a free country that operates on supply and demand principle, government has no authority or right to control price of a private business. Just remember this event will help bring in money for that little business also. The hotel will employ many more people for other supporting businesses. Please stop pushing this socialist price control idea. more
There has to be a fair balance between room tariffs and demand. Hotel rooms are finite and charging 10-15x the normal rate is unjustified. Someone is saying that hotels have slack days so they should fleece people when they have the opportunity is clearly not thinking through the problems this kind of a situation creates. If the hotels have card rates they should not exceed them. Discounts are in any case discriminatory. Having low occupany or seasonal fall in a business risk. Every hotelier has already factored all that when they have worked out the pricing structure. Let them not discredit the value of money by such predatory practices. more
Yes, it is certainly required. Such a situation did arise for Airlines when they decided to raise prices after GO Airlines went out of operation. It was suggested that for every sector upper limit must be fixed for tariffs. On similar lines, Hotel Industry also must be admonished.
