Make Railways better

Passengers should be shown by IRCTC the available berths at the time of booking and allow them to choose the berths they like. It cannot be allotted at the sweet will of IRCTC, who just do not care and allot upper berths for Sr. Citizens of 75 years. At least 20% of lower berths should be reserved for Senior citizens. Hope IRCTC will modify its computer prog. to help Sr. Citizens.

Available seats must be shown on website to enable passengers to book seats/berths. Special quota should be for senior citizens. more
Yes, a perfect suggestion. Indian Railways should introduce the Berth/Seat map in the online reservation system wherein a passenger while booking the ticket can opt for the berth/seat as per his/her choice. At least this facility can be made available for Senior Citizens & Disabled passengers only. My age is 62 and a number of times I had to cancel my confirmed ticket immediately after booking, pay towards cancellation charges as well, as I was allotted side upper. Moreover, while travelling in ACII class, when you pay more to travel in comfort, side berths are most uncomfortable in comparison to cabin berths whereas you pay the same fare. more
Exactly a year & half ago we were travelling from NDLS to LKO in Shatabdi Exps & found that toilet soap dispensers were all screwed up / rivetted on the wall and no way one could tilt them to get even a drop of soap solutioin out except dipp your hanky or fingers etc to get some soap. A really funny and dirty way and it was alike another adjacent toilet also. All the coaches which were uniformly shabby and badly kept. I sent a complaint SMS to Gorakhpur div immediately and soon after staff started coming to me on my seat including a contractor apologising for the inconvenience. promised to rectfy the situation and did alternate arrangement of soap in the toilet very close to my seat, got the complaint book duly entered and signed by me. By the time we reached LKO I just decided to peep into other toilets and was shocked to find problems exactly similar in all the 6-7 toilets that I checked. Few days back we came back again by the same train and found situation simlar without any change. Now this is the state of affairs of complaint system and general mind-set of staff on board or major stations espaciouly those in charge of inspection duties more
There should be reservation of lower births for Sr citizens. The births are still available should be shown at the time of on-line booking, so that Sr citizens can decide whether to go ahead with booking or not if no lower births are available. more
