A lot more is still to be done to reduce child rapes in India esp on reform the investigation and trial processes and but this is indeed a good first step.

Nothing is going to move till the police, judiciary & politicians are rid of corruption. There were already enough pre existing laws. more
Dear Sir, The enactment gives death sentence to the rapists. It is very vital to avoid recurrence of such cases. It must be whole life imprisonment without parole for those who rape children between 12-16 years. But all these are taken after the occurrence of the crime. But, it is a child protection policy which should be declared - which will give protection for the children - Juvenile justice Act which gives protection for children to a certain amount. But, the protection of children is still not achieved. Let us consider the cases where abusement took place. Most of the victims live in in secure conditions. Many of them live in streets. Large number of mothers leave their children at home lonely while they are in search of their daily bread. So, let us consider the fact that even 6 months or so aged children are raped. This is not lust. This is not rape. This is anti social atrocity and madness. So, they must be get rid off the society by execution. However, we must also consider some protection for children from the above mentioned risks - loneliness at houses, insecure dwellings, incest etc. So, we should consider a shelter for children - where they could be kept while their mothers go for work, where their mothers sleep in street or wherever they feel insecure. For this purpose, we could utilise the Anganvadis where 24 hour Anganwadi worker/Warden be appointed and the facilities to prepare food and shelter to be used to cater the children. Those who need to keep their children up to 16 years in these institutions and we could guarantee protection for them. The nutrition programme for children already exist and there will not be much additional expenditure for food. Once this programme is implemented, the security of the children can be assured and coupled with stringent punishment for the culprits, I am sure, this evil will be eradicated from our country. Good step taken by government, but it was late. more
Most important is filing of complaints . A majority of children are raped by very close relatives and hence parents of the victim are either pressurized or otherwise reluctant to file a case. In such cases, if it found out later, parents of victim should also be liable to punishment. more
