Measures in the last 3 years to improve air quality

Far more needs to be done to improve air quality. Where are the measures, such as increasing the cost in case the fuel is polluting. Diesel still cheaper than petrol, especially when one takes into consideration the calorific value. Delhi government has done more insofar as converting the entire public transportation systems, i.e. the buses, to run on CNG, and even electric. Government, in charge of policy, can do a lot more. Polluter pays principle implementation could be transformational, but government's intention also seems driven by appeasement. Lockdown saw pollution levels reduce, which could have been built upon for freight haulage by trains, the most environmentally friendly option, thus furthering improvement in air quality and even our rivers getting cleaner. more

Increasing fuel cost is not a solution . This will not reduce the fuel consumption but just kill the lower / middle class people and not the rich & govt. machinery as for them cost does not matter and this has a direct & serious impact on our Foreign Exchange out flow on this account . Suggested : - 1) To fix a reasonable monthly minimum fuel quota for each vehicle owner as US had adopted years ago . 2) Pooling System ; Plying more of CNG / Electric Vehicles for commuters / Office goers / Official / Legislative members and avoid / stop using charted / private air crafts to save on ATF etc. , except for very essential services . These changes will definitively reduce the fuel consumption , Foreign Exchange outflow & control on air quality control . more
I completely agree.
1. Increasing fuel cost would meet with a protests. Instead. monthly quota for each vehicle running on diesel should be fixed, as then people would switch their cars to CNG or electric, and even use car pooling.
2. Our prime minister took the chartered flight to US last year, when he could have even flown business class instead of a private airplane. Of course one may site security as a reason, but country's premiers can take commercial flights. Developed countries are those where their premiers travel by public transportation, because the transport's standard has been improved for everyone. Moreover, sharing resources always more economical, while exclusive use thereof, wasteful. more
AAP government in Delhi and Punjab now ... But it has not shown as yet that they have prepared the blue print for controlling pollution in the next approaching season for pollution with crop burning and diwali crackers etc. This Circle must put adequate pressure as of now otherwise it will become late. more
Force not, conscious voluntary awareness and action on we ALL can bring pollution under control. more
Subsidy for electric vehicles and cheaper electricity will be helpful if one has to shift to electric vehicles more
The actions have to be taken by State Governments. Central Government is not accountable for this and can give suggestions. more
