Modified rules of online reservation of Railway tickets.

Referring to modified rules of online ticket reservation for Indian Railways. I feel Railways may consider that there might be senior citizens, old age citizens also might be using online reservation system of IRCTC. The timelines as stated in point No. 5 and 6 may need reconsideration of the Railways keeping in view the speed at which old age people and senior citizens are can work on computer and internet. The time for captcha as 5 seconds both in passengers details page and payment page may be too less to respond and fill up at relevant space. Similarly 10 second time for making payment is also too short as the details are required to be filled in with utmost care. Point No. 6, the OTP requirement should not be restricted to only netbanking users but also all kind of payment tools like credit card/debit cards/wallets etc should need OTP. This is essential from security point of view in the payment system. Any other point the members feel important may be included.
1. Six tickets can be booked in a month from a single user ID. If the user is Aadhaar verified, he/she can book 12 tickets in a month. One person can book only two tickets during the opening hours between 8am and 10 am.
2. Single page or quick book services are not available between 8 am and 12 noon. One user can have only one log-in session at a time. Captcha is available at login, passenger detail and payment web pages.
3. An additional level of security has been included in the modified rules. Now, a user is required to answer a security question after he/she has filled up his/her personal information – user name, email, mobile number, check box etc.
4. Agents are allowed to book tickets between 8 am to 8.30 am, 10 am to 10.30 am and 11 am to 11.30 am. Authorised travel agents cannot book tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes after online reservation opens.
5. Online ticket booking has been made time sensitive. The standard time to fill up passenger details is 25 seconds. The minimum input time for Captcha on passenger details page and payment page is 5 seconds.
6. Ten seconds are given for making the payment. One-time password (OTP) system has been made mandatory for payments through net banking for all banks and users.
Tatkal tickets can be booked a day before the travel.
7. Online berth reservation starts at 10 am for air-conditioned (AC) coaches and at 11 am for sleeper bogies.
8. Complete refund of train fare and tatkal charges can be claimed only if the train fails to depart in three hours of its scheduled departure time.
9. A passenger can claim a full refund if the train’s route has been diverted and he/she doesn’t want to travel on that route.
10. A passenger can also claim a full refund if he/she has been shifted to a lower class than what the ticket was booked for provided he/she doesn’t want to travel in the changed class. But, if a passenger is willing to travel in the lower class, he/she will be paid back the difference more

Yes time is not sufficient to fill all details and to make payment. more
OTP is required even if payment is made through Credit Cards. The Card issuing company/bank needs an OTP prior to approval of the expenditure. As far as Captcha is concerned, the reasons for asking for Catcha at every stage is not clear. Though I am not aware of the timings as detailed in the post, if it is so, it is too inadequate for an applicant to complete the form correctly in such a short time. Therefore, the railways should reconsider and revise the timings upward. Another issue is opening of reservation 120 days in advance, which is unreasonable and genuine passengers are unable to secure reservation in the event of failing to do so prior to 120 days of their journey. The period needs to be brought down to 30 to 45 days. more
I agree with Mr Ravindra Raghuwanshi .Payment is done tickets are not issued no message ,no refernance no. I wrote mails to irctc but no reply tried to contact customer care NO ONE TO ATTEND THE CALL.THE NEW WEB SITE IS NOT FOR CUSTOMER TO BOOK TICKET .IT IS ONLY FOR ADVERTISEMENT and to give trouble to on line booking customer . Login is very difficult captcha is not all accepted .Please discard the present portal.IT IS NOT AT ALL USER FRIENDLY. I tried to check the booked history and cancellation details ,no way to get such details in the NEW PORTAL .My strong opinion is to revert back to old portal more
sir, go via otp more
Ravindra Raghuwanshi New site is enemy of the citizen. Payment is debited and we do not get ticket is common. Time given for Captcha and payment is too too short as if all trained to type at the speed of 120 words / minute. Many use single finger for typing does not IRCTC site developer know this? more
