Morality and ethics are issues that are basically inherent in all thinking individuals but suffers due to the prevalent customs and traditions of the era and the region or community. Some of it is molded through one's upbringing at home and school. Teach young students to reflect on moral and ethical values free of religious, casteist, ethnic, language and regional prejudices ( difficult since parents and teachers themselves are often subject to this themselves). Then you will have an environment in which students can themselves figure out that corruption, discrimination based on gender, skin colour or ethnicity and activities harming the environment and their health ( smoking, drinking, drug use etc.) is bad for themselves as well as to the society around them. Teaching such values at school based on a well thought of curriculum is probably the only way forward. Beware of it being just a token activity like the moral science classes of yesteryears. more
